Admin comment: We totally agree that this would be ideal. Unfortunately, the way the site has grown and separate accounts created, there is no way to bring it back together under one overall registration / login system. However, we have implemented clearer navigation through the system, and all major parts of the site (shopping, forums, selling) have persistent login options, so for many cases, the user can stay logged in at all times and not deal with re-logging in.
