Single-user stores: one more quick change

Hi all,

As part of the change I mentioned in the last posting, I also had to change the logic of how images are resized in your listings. Whereas before, the code would check your image size and resize if it was too big, this piece of code was beginning to conflict with image hosts like Photobucket, causing slowdowns and page freezes in some stores. I removed that code and also completely removed the image resizing, which unfortunately caused some sellers’ listing pages to become distorted with huge images.

So, I’ve added another option to the Store Settings >> Store design page called “Item listing image width.” It’s set to 0 by default, which means your images won’t be resized. But if you set it to a number (400 works pretty well), it will resize all of your listing images to this width. If you host your images on the Hyena Cart server, you shouldn’t have to mess with this setting.

Thanks!

  1. Thanks Karen! I had to go through the other night and resize every picture through Photobucket, I thought I had screwed up my store code. Thanks for fixing it.

  2. There doesn’t seem to be an option for “item image listing width” for those of us using the profile page (old) setups. Will that eventually be included? Resizing images on Photobucket is a major fiasco – especially when you have lots to do (hundreds including current and old item images).

  3. ditto what Melissa and Candice say…I had to go in an adjust my category and thumbnail images to make them clear again (but now they’re smaller than they were and if I try to get them back to the same proportions they are fuzzy…what gives?), and we host our images on HC server, so I’m not sure I understand why they’re messed up in the first place.

  4. I noticed All my photos at the end of my item listings were too large
and horribly fuzzy…so I went back and redid each one in html to be part of my item description (I’ve always used html)….they had been automatically
resized up to 400 pixels. I’m not a happy camper.
