I will continue to communicate and keep you updated with my progress.

*What to expect*

All items will arrive to you freshly washed and ironed (if need be). Wool items will be washed, fully lanolized and blocked. I seal in a zip-sealed plastic bag for mailing.

Notes on sewn items: Prior to cutting & sewing, I pre-wash all of my fabrics in hot water with homemade (hypo-allergenic) laundry soap and dry in the dryer on hot with chemical-free fabric dryer sheets. Once an item has been sewn, I run it though a cold rinse on the gentle cycle and air dry only. I seal the item in a zip-sealed bag when it is fresh from the dryer and it mostly remains there until I ship it to you. (I do, of course, take it out to iron and package it.)

Why do I do all this washing when others don’t? Pre-washing fabrics gets out any chemicals or dust from production or storage and drying on hot helps to shrink the fabric as much as possible. I rinse after sewing to clean any pen marks, lint or loose threads. Air drying straightens the weave of the fabric and shows me how seams will lie. Before I list an item for sale I like to know that it’s going to hold up to your daily life, even if it means it looks like it’s been run through the wash rather than straight off the bolt – I feel the trade-off is worth it. I know what it’s like to be a busy mom who does not have time or desire to hang baby clothes to dry or iron every item – I want you to know that what you see listed in my store will be fairly close to how the item will look after you’ve laundered it several times.
