The Milkwood Fairy by Angelique Angels

$285.00 Milkwood Fairy is inspired by the book of poems by Antjie Krog called Fynbos Fairies which is illustrated by Fiona Moodie. This book celebrates the local Cape flora in South Africa known as Fynbos.
The Milkwood is a majestic tree that grows around here, particularly in dunes near the sea.

She is 15" tall but very petite with a 6" waist. She has a little bottom, knees, a belly button and fixed legs with button-jointed arms. Inside her torso is a small piece of rose quartz.

She is made from cotton interlock and stuffed with pure South African sheep's wool. She has green eyes with brown detail at the edges.

Her hair is made from mohair weft. It is crocheted into a mohair yarn cap using a technique shared by Gabi from Fairy Wool Dolls. The hair is 6-8" in length. It has been dyed jet black. This dye ran a great deal when I made the wig (I ended up looking as if I'd been to work in a coal mine!) and was thoroughly washed after. Once the water was running clear the hair was washed and conditioned with organic shampoo/conditioner. There is a small risk of some ongoing transfer of dye (I can confirm that this has not happened during further construction steps in making this doll). But as a result, she is not suitable for children.

She is wearing:
A pair of knitted French knickers with crochet border in pink wool yarn with a peach satin ribbon tie.
Her dress is made with cream satin and overlayed with multiple layers of cream organza. The dress fastens with a button at the back and ties with a cream satin ribbon at the nape of her neck. The bodice detail is Czech glass beads, in shades of brown and gold, that have been hand stitched in a diamond shape.
She wears a crown of cream roses that are made from paper.
Her crochet Mary Jane shoes are made with white handspun yarn and have a green and white flower detail on the toes.
Her cream wings are very delicate, attached to her dress, and made from layers of organza and horsehair tulle with machine embroidery detail.

She is not suitable for younger children due to the button joint construction and the delicate clothing and therefore recommended for age seven and up.
